What is Eduroam?

Question

What is Eduroam?

Answer

Eduroam is the Metropolitan Community College' s new wireless network for MCC employees and students.

Eduroam, is slowly replacing MCC_Wireless across the College as the primary wireless network. Although it functions identically to the former network, Eduroam is a new SSID (Eduroam) that your devices will need to connect to manually. For college-provided devices, the connection should be automatic.

When connecting your personal BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) to the Eduroam network, follow these specific instructions:

On-Campus Access

When prompted for your username, you must use your full college email address (e.g., username@mccneb.edu), not just your username. Aside from this specific login requirement, the network experience is the same as the former MCC_Wireless network, which it will eventually replace.

Off-Campus Access

A major benefit of Eduroam is the ability to use your MCC credentials at other participating educational institutions worldwide. When traveling to a partner campus, your authentication "tunnels" back to MCC for verification. This typically grants you "guest" level access without needing to deal with splash pages or complicated registration steps.

Connection Support and Resources

If you encounter issues connecting your device, the Configuration Assistant Tool can help configure a variety of devices. (Configuration Assistant Tool)
