Error Message
The network connection is unreachable or the portal is unresponsive. Check the network connection and reconnect.
Description
The error message displays when trying to connect to MCC's VPN, however the GlobalProtect application is unable to make a secure connection.

Resolution
This error typically occurs when one of five things has happened:
- The user doesn't have working Internet connection. Check navigating to other non-cached websites like https://ismyinternetworking.com/.
- The user's DNS isn't working, (usually caused by a lack of Internet connection). Information on https://thetechylife.com/how-do-i-check-if-my-dns-is-working-properly/ may be helpful.
- MCC's DNS isn't working or is unavailable, (usually caused lack of Internet connection on the hosts site's end). Be patient or contact vendor site through alternate means to verify if they are having an outage.
- MCC's VPN is unreachable, (usually caused by either lack of Internet or problem with the host site's configuration). You can check your MCC email on alternate device (cell phone) to see if an outage is reported, or you call IT Support to verify VPN status.
- MCC's Internet access is down. You can check the MCC website on alternate device (cell phone) to see if an outage is reported, or you call IT Support to verify VPN status.
The first two are far more common than the latter ones, and can be as simple as attempting a VPN connection before the device's Wifi or ethernet connections have completed initializing (ie: after system restart or reboot). The primary troubleshooting method is to ensure that the Internet is reachable, check that other MCC sites are available, and lastly to try again after 5-10 minutes.
If all of these steps have been tried, and were unsuccessful, a ticket should be submitted to escalate the issue to the appropriate IT support staff.
