Forgetting a wireless network on your device is often a useful strategy when troubleshooting wireless network problems, particularly if your configuration or access key for the wireless network may be incorrect. This article provides instructions on how to forget a wireless network on various operating systems and device types. 

Instructions

Desktop 

Windows 11:

  1. Open Settings: Press Win + I to open the Settings app.
  2. Network & Internet: Go to Network & Internet.
  3. Wi-Fi: Click on Wi-Fi in the left sidebar.
  4. Manage known networks: Click on Manage known networks.
  5. Select the network: Find the network you want to forget and click on it.
  6. Forget: Click the Forget button.

 

Mobile 

Android:

  1. Open Settings: Go to the Settings app.
  2. Network & Internet: Tap on Network & Internet.
  3. Wi-Fi: Tap on Wi-Fi.
  4. Saved networks: Tap on Saved networks.
  5. Select the network: Tap on the network you want to forget.
  6. Forget: Tap Forget 

iPhone:

  1. Open Settings: Go to the Settings app.
  2. Wi-Fi: Tap on Wi-Fi.
  3. Select the network: Tap the i icon next to the network you want to forget.
  4. Forget This Network: Tap Forget This Network and confirm

 

For troubleshooting Wi-Fi connection issues, you can also try:

  • Restarting your router and modem.
  • Running the Network troubleshooter in Windows.
  • Checking for updates to your device's network drivers
