How to Install and Connect to the GlobalProtect VPN

Overview

The GlobalProtect VPN (Virtual Private Network) client by Palo Alto Networks is a tool that allows you to securely access MCC's network and resources from anywhere, whether you're working from home, traveling, or off-campus. Think of it as a secure bridge between your device and MCC's systems, ensuring that your connection is private and protected from online threats.

Instructions

How to Install the GlobalProtect VPN
  1. Type Software Center into your task bars search box and open Software Center. 

 

  1. In Software Center, select Applications in the left pane. Click GlobalProtect.

  1. Click Install. 

NOTE: Once the install is complete you will need to restart your device. 

How to Connect to the GlobalProtect VPN
  1. The GlobalProtect VPN can be located in your system tray. To open and view the system tray (notification area), click the up arrow (^) icon located in the bottom-right corner of your taskbar next to the clock. Click the GlobalProtect icon. 

 

 

  1. A small window above your system tray will appear, click on the Get Started button then in the Portal section enter vpn.mccneb.edu. Click Connect.

 

 

  1. Enter your MCC username (not your MCC email address) and password, click Connect. 

 

 

  1. You will need to select your second authentication method (MFA). Enter the number of one of the following choices, then click Verify:
1 - Voice Call Authentication.
Receive a phone call for your verification code.
2 - Okta Verify.
The main app installed on your phone or device. It provides multiple ways to prove who you are, including push notifications and temporary code generation.
3 - Okta Verify Push.
Sends an instant alert to your phone where you tap a button (or match a number) to approve a login.
4 - SMS Authentication.
Receive a text message for your verification code.
0 - to abort
Click Install and wait for the installation to complete.

 

 

  1. Once connected, you should see something similar to below.
