As part of its institutional modernization efforts, MCC is preparing for the transition to a new software platform for non-credit programs and learner enrollment. Effective Wednesday, July 1, 2026, Genius CE become the primary software, replacing ACEware, the College’s prior platform for non-credit course registration and operations.
Q&A
How do CWE instructors and course hosts (e.g., facility managers, non-CWE staff/course organizers) get access to Genius?
They will access it through Unity under 'Apps'.
At go-live, access will follow an interim hybrid process:
- New employees (instructors or staff) will go through the Technology Activation Form (TAF), with IT provisioning Genius access and assigning roles.
- Existing users or course hosts will be managed by the CWE team using manual updates and weekly CSV imports based on Workday reports (new hires and terminations).
This approach ensures continuity at launch. In parallel, IT will work toward long-term API-based automation to fully streamline user provisioning and role management.
How do non-credit students and community members set up their accounts?
Non-credit students and community members will use a self-service registration process:
- Navigate to the public Genius registration site
- Select or “Create Account”
- Enter required information (e.g., name, email, password)
- Complete email verification (if prompted)
- Log in and browse or enroll in available courses
- Note: Non-credit students and community members can browse the catalog without creating a Genius account
- If Non-credit students and community members have an MCC email they will logon using SSO. Otherwise, they will login using the normal login process, which will be supported by MFA.
Do I need to create a new user account in Genius CE Learning if I already had an ACEware account?
It depends. CWE will migrate only the last two years of learners from ACEware into Genius, as well as any learners who have micro-credentials or certifications associated with their profiles. All other users must create a new account, as ACEware login credentials will not carry over for the rest of the learners.
I created a new account but my password isn’t working, why?
If you have an MCC email, contact IT Support Services to troubleshoot any issues with the Okta account. Non MCC email users should use the “Recover your password” option to Request Password.
Where can I access my non-credit learning history?
You can view your learning history by logging into your Genius CE account and accessing your Learner Dashboard, where you can see your Active, Pending, and Completed courses.
I’m trying to find a course, but it isn’t listed, why is this?
The course is not eligible for registration or self-registration. Learners can contact the Call Center to confirm.
Can I download a course certificate of completion?
Yes. If certificates are enabled for your course, you can download them from your Genius CE course after completing the course.
Does Genius CE use the same log-in as my for non-credit Canvas courses?
Yes. Genius uses the same SSO credentials as Canvas, so you can log in with your MCC account for both systems.
I received a payment failed error, or my class payment did not post to my bank account, why?
CWE Operations can research to see if the was payment portal issue and follow up with the leaner.
