Resolution

Minimum Recommended Computer Specifications:

  • Processor: A 2GHz processor or faster.
  • RAM: 4GB of RAM (8GB recommended). Some sources indicate 1GB of RAM is sufficient, but 4GB is a more common recommendation for smoother performance.
  • Operating System: Windows 7 or newer, or Mac OS X 10.6 or newer. Generally, any operating system that can run the latest supported web browsers is sufficient.
  • Computer Age: A computer five years old or newer is recommended for optimal performance.
  • Internet Speed: A minimum internet speed of 512 kbps is recommended. A higher speed, particularly a wired Ethernet connection, is strongly recommended for activities like online exams.

Essential Software:

  • Web Browser: Use the current or previous major releases of Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari for the best experience. Keeping your browser updated is crucial.
  • Adobe Reader: Required for viewing PDF files.
  • Antivirus Software: Highly recommended for security.
  • Microsoft Office (or equivalent): Often required for coursework. Students may have access to Office 365 through their institution.

Using a computer that is five years old or newer with these specifications will help ensure a smooth experience with Canvas.
