Description
To save browser bookmarks, you need to export them as an HTML file. This file can then be imported into another browser or used as a backup on the same or different computer.
Instructions
GOOGLE CHROME
Exporting Chrome Bookmarks:
1. Open Chrome's Bookmark Manager:
- Click the three dots (More) in the top right corner of the browser window, hover over "Bookmarks," and then click "Bookmark Manager".
2. Export the bookmarks:
- In the Bookmark Manager, click the three dots (More actions) next to the "Bookmarks" search bar. Select "Export Bookmarks".
3. Save the HTML file:
- Choose a location to save the HTML file (e.g., your desktop or a flash drive) and click "Save".
Importing Chrome Bookmarks:
1. Open Chrome's Bookmark Manager:
- Follow steps 1 and 2 from the export process to access the Bookmark Manager.
2. Import the bookmarks:
- In the Bookmark Manager, click the three dots (More actions) next to the "Bookmarks" search bar. Select "Import Bookmarks".
3. Choose the HTML file:
- Select the HTML file you saved earlier and click "Open".

MICROSOFT EDGE
Exporting Edge bookmarks:
1. Open Microsoft Edge and click on the three dots (Settings and more) in the top right corner.
2. Go to Favorites > More options (...) > Export favorites.
3. Choose a location to save the HTML file and click Save.
Importing Edge bookmarks:
1. Open Microsoft Edge and go to Favorites > More options (...) > Import favorites.
2. Select Favorites or bookmarks HTML file and click Choose file.
3. Select the HTML file you exported earlier and click Open.
4. Click Done.
To sync your Edge bookmarks across devices:
1. Open Microsoft Edge and go to Settings and more > Settings > Profiles > Sync.
2. Sign in with your Microsoft account if you haven't already.
3. Ensure the Favorites toggle is switched on.
By enabling syncing, your bookmarks will automatically be available on any device where you are signed into Edge with the same account.

FIREFOX
Exporting Firefox bookmarks:
1. Open Bookmarks Library:
- Click the "Library" button (it looks like three stacked lines) on the Firefox toolbar, then select "Bookmarks" and "Manage Bookmarks" or use the shortcut Ctrl + Shift + O.
2. Open Import and Backup Menu:
- In the Library window, click "Import and Backup".
3. Export to HTML:
- Select "Export Bookmarks to HTML..." from the menu.
4. Choose a Location:
- Select a folder to save the HTML file and name it (e.g., "firefox_bookmarks.html").
5. Save the File:
- Click "Save" to export the bookmarks.
Importing Firefox bookmarks:
1. Open Bookmarks Library:
- Follow steps 1 and 2 above to open the Library and the Import and Backup menu.
2. Import from HTML:
- Select "Import Bookmarks from HTML...".
3. Select the File:
- Navigate to the HTML file you exported and select it.
4. Open the File:
- Click "Open" to import the bookmarks.

SAFARI
Exporting Safari bookmarks:
1. Open Safari:
- Launch the Safari application on your Mac.
2. Access Export Option:
- Go to File in the Safari menu bar and select Export Bookmarks.
3. Choose a Location:
- Select a folder or location on your computer where you want to save the exported bookmarks file.
4. Save the File:
- Click Save to save the bookmarks as an HTML file.
Importing Safari bookmarks:
1. Open Safari:
- Launch the Safari application.
2. Access Import Option:
- Go to File in the Safari menu bar and select Import From. You will see options like "Bookmarks HTML File" or the names of other browsers.
3. Select File:
- Choose the browser or the HTML file you want to import from.
4. Import:
- Follow the on-screen instructions to import the bookmarks.
Importing Safari bookmarks into other browsers:
1. Export from Safari:
- Follow the steps above to export your Safari bookmarks to an HTML file.
2. Open the Other Browser:
- Launch the browser you want to import into (e.g., Chrome, Firefox).
3. Access Import Option:
- Refer to the specific instructions for that browser on how to import bookmarks from an HTML file. For example, in Chrome, you would go to More > Bookmarks and lists > Import Bookmarks and Settings.
